An Old Background

Hello, here is a very Old background from another OUP project called Cookie! It was all traditional 2D but scanned into Animo instead of cell painted. It was all following the style of an existing book.

Trees!

Here is another BG from one of the OUP projects as quite a lot of you like these. I need to do some more rummaging around for nice things to look at.

Morning. Here is another goat run cycle. This one was the mummy goat. Mr Phil did these, the whole project was traditional 2D.

Old BG

Here is another old BG from Town and Country Mouse. I have been asked to put more old BG's up so here is one. I think I shall brave it and venture up into the loft this afternoon to look for more gems. It hasn't got easy access you see. I will try my best. Just for you.

Town Mouse BG

Here is another BG from Town and Country Mouse. This was on two layers so we could have passing traffic behind the foreground buildings. I havent put the front level high enough so you can see the shoddy line on the back buildings on the left. This BG is all water colour and the animation for the project was all done traditionally in 2D on paper.

Billy Stills

Here are some stills from the Billy Goats Gruff short we did for OUP. I posted some animation drawings for the baby goat recently. I have a few more of the same to put up soon. Now you can see how they were finished. This was all traditional. Drawn characters and drawn BG's.

A Run Cycle

Here is a run cycle of a baby goat from a OUP short we did of Billy Goats Gruff. This was from Mr Phil. He is having a tidy up around his desk and found these. Look at the construction and clean up and the over lapping action of the ears. Nice.

3 Bears Background

Morning. Here is an old background for a short we did for Goldilocks and the 3 bears for Oxford University Press. It's watercolour and ink on board.

Country Mouse BG

Here is a background from Town and County Mouse. It was a special we did for Oxford University Press, for one of their teaching English programs. This is ink and watercolour, on board paper no less! This was either Mr Gary or Miss Teresa, it was so long ago my failing memory escapes me. Bad Miss A.

*Mr Phil informs me it was Miss Teresa. His memory is much better than mine.

Two overlays of the same BG

Here is a background overlay for Town and Country Mouse for OUP. Two different versions for the same location but with different lighting, one day and one sunset. I couldn't find the sky backgrounds to show you the full effect of the different lighting.

A country view

Here is a BG from an OUP project called Town and Country Mouse. Thought it looked nice and summery for this mornings nice sunshine. Even though I am actually sitting here at my desk with a big coat round my legs and lap as it is freezing!

A dramatic board

I thought I would post up another storyboard. This one is from the OUP short Aladdin. I posted the characters a few days ago.

Character Design

This picture shows the group of characters we did for a short for Oxford University Press. It was Aladdin, in case you didn't realise. They were all animated in 2D. They are all to scale too, I like the little girl. It would have been better to show you them all in colour but it would have been coloured in Animo and I'm not sure where it is at the moment. It's hiding.

Corrections

Here are two old BG's from a 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' Short we did for Oxford University Press many years ago. You can see they are the same BG but different. That's because one was the first version that had to be redone as it wasn't quite right and didn't fit with the rest of the BG's. Just looking at the two BG's in isolation there doesn't seem much wrong with either of them. But in fitting in with the rest of the show the top one was incorrect as it was too dark and had too many outlines in it.
I think if I had to choose a stand alone favorite now, I would probably pick the top one.
