Gary Spangle
Here are some designs for Gary Spangle from Mr Warwick. He was the crass host for the animation night on Channel 4 back in 1998 or 1999, we can't quite remember the date. I do remember watching the night with a load of friends, seeing the links we all so loveingly animated. Then the disapointment as chanel 4 splurged their big square box 4 logo over 2/3rds of the picture covering the funny bits on about half of the links at the end of them. Oh well ay?

Corrections
Morning. Here is a picture to show corrections on some artwork. Top left you can see Mr Curtis scetch of the character Woodward D Edwards from the show Frankenstein's Cat. The colour positions show the built in Flash turnaround designs made by Mr James. The red scribbles are made by the Director showing how he wants the drawings adjusted.

Part of a picture
Here is a partial scan (I've been meaning to get the rest of it done as this is larger than A3) of a painting to get the feel to an environment for the series Boo! Using these style guide paintings the CG guys (normally skilfully led by Mr Duncan) would then construct the 3D world.
This is painted by Miss Rebecca who designed all of Boo!
Yesterdays Talk
I did a talk (well I mainly showed some clips) at the first South West Flash Group meeting last night, they are an official Adobe group.
Here is there site if your intrested to catch the next meeting. They also showed the new CS5 Photoshop wizards trick that I was convinced was an April fools when seeing it on the internett previously.
I also learnt a thing or two about codeing.... as in I am not clever enough to do it.

More Goat
Here is another Mr Curtis pre design sketch for the customised goat (by Van Halen to catch a monster) and the monster trap from the episode Monster Man of Franks Cat. This was our first episode we worked on. If you look at the 7th April post you can see both of these finished in Flash. I will show you more from this episode (with completed Flash models) soon. I have an Animatic to finish right now and I seem to be procrastinating.

Country Mouse BG
Here is a background from Town and County Mouse. It was a special we did for Oxford University Press, for one of their teaching English programs. This is ink and watercolour, on board paper no less! This was either Mr Gary or Miss Teresa, it was so long ago my failing memory escapes me. Bad Miss A.
*Mr Phil informs me it was Miss Teresa. His memory is much better than mine.

Best In Bred
Hello. This mornings picture is the design elements from Mr Curtis for the episode 'Best In Bred' From Franks Cat. I'm not sure if this was the end title but it was the episode working title. It is not a typo (like I would ever miss type anything, no sir). It's a play on words as this was a beauty pageant episode. I will show you the finished designs later, some have appeared on this blog before but not all of them.

StoryTrain Size Chart
Here is a size chart for Driver Dan's Story Train characters to show how they all relate to each other. Hip and Hop (rabbits) are the same size so to save space the rough model of one is put in. The same for Milly and Lilly (the flamingos). Although that's the final model. Oh and the Counting Sheep are all inside number 5. They stack you see.
I didn't know what else to say about the picture.
Can you tell?

Left Over Dog
Here is a pencil frame from Left Over Dog before it's cleaned up and scanned and painted in Animo. Yes that is a nipple on his cheek.
We used Animo which was a digital painting program which replaced acetate cells and painting onto them by hand. We rarely use these traditional techniques as now we draw directly into the computer. The main reasons for the shift in process is time and money. As in hardly any of either. Sniff.

For Bristol based Miss and Mr's
Pencil drawings!
Here are some more Mr Curtis initial designs for Franks Cat. The expression guide at the top was for the reporter who was meant to be very hammie. I think we also removed Lotties bag from the script as it would have been quite difficult to do as Nine was meant to get in and out of it a lot so in the end it was written in that Nine would turn into Lotties back pack. Much funnier.
